Okinawa – 2004
This was taken at the Peace Park we visited as part of a unit-sponsored “Battlesites Tour” on Okinawa. It’s also popular with what appeared to be hordes of mainland Japanese school groups, some in matching uniforms and some not, like these three.
This guy was one of my buddies, always smiling and laughing, fun to hang out with. He was also the tallest Marine in our tour group, I think he is something like 6’4″. The three Japanese girls spotted him and raced towards him, from across the park, screeching and squealing. Apparently they thought he was the greatest male specimen to ever set foot on planet Earth.
He thought it was hilarious and so did everyone else and to the girls’ utter delight, he posed for a photo, practically sitting on the ground so his head would fit into the picture.
P.S. What is up with that girl on the left? She looks like her upper body is breaking off at the hips!
I am a female Marine currently in the Individual Ready Reserve. I like to sleep, travel, read, eat, explore, and take photographs. I read lots of news and I like reading about life in other countries. I am easily amused and my dream job is to be snoozing in a warm patch of sunlight, hopefully with a piece of tasty cheese nearby for when I wake up hungry.
