Computer Models of Baghdad Embassy
This is the website of the company that designed and is building the ridiculously monstrous and fancy new embassy for us in Baghdad. Check out the third thumbnail from the left, and the fourth one too.
The fourth one is supposedly what the Marine House will look like. If so, it looks like something the 1970s coughed up and spit out into Iraq. Surely they can choose a more cheerful paint color.
The third picture is just funny. Like the MSGs are going to be roaming around outside the buildings, in dress blues, sans duty belt, with WHITE GLOVES ON! Hilarious.
But hey, at least the poor guy is wearing short sleeves.
Edit: There was a big kerfuffle about those designs being posted online, so they are gone now!
I am a female Marine currently in the Individual Ready Reserve. I like to sleep, travel, read, eat, explore, and take photographs. I read lots of news and I like reading about life in other countries. I am easily amused and my dream job is to be snoozing in a warm patch of sunlight, hopefully with a piece of tasty cheese nearby for when I wake up hungry.
Did you see how the following day, the architecture firm that posted those pics on the web was busted for being lazy about security? I wondered about that when reading your blog and clicking the hyperlink, how the architects were really helping with security by showing the physical layout. Ack. Anyway, it was in the news later and I thought of you. Akinoluna breaking news! :-)
Yeah for once! ha ha. I did see all those articles later…They had a good point about Google though. Somebody mentioned that all you had to do was pull up Google to get the layout. I’ve never tried it for that embassy, but I looked up mine and it’s so clear you can see the colors of individual cars in the parking lot.
