Last week I got tired of waking up before dawn to go running. I decided it was much easier to walk out of my office building an hour before lunchtime, go run, then collapse into my bed afterwards and still have time to eat, shower, and be lazy. Waking up is hard enough, running immediately after waking up is horrible, even if you do get to see a pretty sunrise.
Plus I don’t hear creepy nighttime creature noises anymore.
Today I ran three miles and timed it to see if all this running around is doing any good. I beat my last PFT score, so apparently something’s working right. Now I only gotta knock off another two minutes to get to the time I ran on my best PFT ever, and then two more minutes to get the maximum points!
I felt like a dork today though. I ran and ran and ran and then when I got back to my car, I realized I had locked my keys inside. I had to walk and run another half a mile back to the barracks! After I ate, showered, and was lazy for awhile, I started heading back to my car.
I don’t mind walking to places on the base because it’s impossible to cover a significant distance before one of the many young, chivalrous male Marines drives past and asks if I want a ride. Today was no exception. I recognized him as being part of the color guard but I don’t remember his name. He has pretty blue eyes though.
I am a female Marine currently in the Individual Ready Reserve. I like to sleep, travel, read, eat, explore, and take photographs. I read lots of news and I like reading about life in other countries. I am easily amused and my dream job is to be snoozing in a warm patch of sunlight, hopefully with a piece of tasty cheese nearby for when I wake up hungry.
